Hilton Head

We just got back from our vacation in Hilton Head, SC. It was the first time that Luke was at the beach. We went with Ajji and Tata (my parents). We lucked out with the weather - it was sunny and in the 80's the entire week and it did not rain once. Our house was right on the water and in the evening, we could actually see dolphins from our deck. It was pretty amazing. We rented bikes for the week, and biked everywhere. I forgot how much fun it was to ride a bike since we do not own one here. Rich and I would bike 8-1omiles everyday. It was mostly to other parts of the island that had great bars so that we could "hydrate" with beverages before biking back. Since Luke is not old enough to be in the hitch (9months minimum), he stayed home and hung out with Ajji and Tata. Rich was a little depressed at the beginning of the vacation as the Virginia Tech Hokies lost to Alabama, but he recovered during the rest of the week because of his friends Corona and Bud Light. We also watched a lot of US Open Tennis.

We have never been away for an entire week before with Luke. Luke and I shared a suitcase...half of the suitcase was comprised of Luke's toys, 1/4 was his clothes, and the other 1/4th was my clothes, shoes, toiletries etc. Rich got his own suitcase. Luckily we had a washer and dryer in the house. We were within walking distance to the Salty Dog Cafe which is this really cool outdoor bar. We would walk over there every day for happy hour and have some bahama mamas. Luke would have his non-alcoholic banana mango baby food which is favorite flavor now. Luke loved the water too. I was trepidatous as to how he would react to the waves, but he absolutely loved it. He is such a water baby, I cant wait to start his swim lessons at the end of the month.

Rich and I got to have a date night too. We went to this restaurant called Red Fish that had this most amazing dessert. It was an icecream version of a twix bar. I wish they had something like that around here. If anyone knows of a place that serves such a dessert, please let us know. All in all, it was a great vacation. We will all be going back next year again.
