It seems that I am allergic to everything. I am not exaggerating either. I had this serious outbreak of hives back in November - I mean like going to the ER to get an EPI shot kind of serious. Two times we made that trip. We all - including the ER doctor - thought it was a food allergy. Since the only thing new I had introduced into my diet was Soy milk, I cut out all soy. That included anything with Soybean oil or Soy Lechetin. Do you know how many foods contain those products? Practically everything including my favorite dark chocolate.
That did not work either - I kept getting hives. Not to the extent I did that one time, but still enough to be annoying. Finally, I took Rich's advice and went to see an allergist. They shot my arm with 24 different allergens inlcuding dust, pollen, grass, cats, dogs etc. Turns out I am moderatley to severely allergic to everything!!
No kidding, I had welt like hives up and down my arms at the sight of the injections. The allergist said that I am severly allergic to dust and dust mites. He might as well have told me that I was allergic to oxygen. How in the world do you avoid dust?? He gave me some pamphlets to read that said that I had to pretty much cover my entire house in plastic and dust and vacuum twice a day. Right.....becasue that seems realistic.
I did switch to a foam pillow (thanks to my dad who gave me one they are not using), and am taking a new medicine which seems to be helping. Cross my fingers that the crazy outbreak does not happen again!
